We’re absolutely delighted to share some exciting news: Molloy’s has been named a finalist for the 2025 Local Bar of the Year at this year’s prestigious Irish Bar of the Year Awards! This recognition is a huge honour — not just for our team, but for the community we serve day in and day out.

A Slice of Living History in the Heart of Dublin

At Molloy’s, we’re proud to be one of the last remaining early houses in Dublin, opening our doors each morning at 7am under a historic license that dates back to pre-1960s legislation. While many see this as a novelty, to us, it’s something far more meaningful — a living connection to the city’s working-class roots and a daily rhythm that sets us apart from nearly every other pub in Ireland.

We’re here for shift workers, market traders, port staff, and early risers — the people who keep the city moving long before most cafes have even opened. These customers aren’t just passersby; they’re regulars, neighbours, and friends. For them, Molloy’s is their local — just with earlier hours.

Being a finalist in the Local Bar of the Year category is about more than good pints — it’s about creating a sense of place. And that’s what Molloy’s has always done. Mornings here have a special atmosphere that can’t be replicated: quiet conversation, familiar faces, and a steady rhythm that starts the day off right. Tourists are fascinated by it. Locals treasure it. And we work hard to preserve that experience every single day.

We’ve made thoughtful updates over the years — including a recent refurbishment that kept our original Victorian features intact, from the iconic "bow of a ship" layout to our warm timber interiors. These updates have helped Molloy’s evolve without losing its soul.

Among Dublin’s Best

To be recognised alongside some of the country’s best-loved bars is a huge honour. Finalists in our category include gems from Cork to Kerry to Kildare — and we’re proud to represent Dublin city centre in such esteemed company.

The awards ceremony takes place on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the Clayton Hotel on Burlington Road, where winners across 27 categories will be announced. Until then, we’re raising a glass to all of you — our patrons, our regulars, and our morning crowd — who make Molloy’s what it is.
